Paris-based Anis Benhallak is a guitarist and songwriter born in Chelghoum Laïd, a small village in Eastern Algeria. His multi-facetted background gave him cultural and musical diversity (Chaabi, Hawzi, Malouf, Gnaoui and Raï). Anis Benhallak is rooted in Algeria’s traditional and ancestral music. In keeping with his musical voyage of discovery, the artist explores international music: jazz has been a revelation. Paradoxical Project, his first album, is the result of exploring and experimenting with fresh sounds: an expert blend of jazz imbued with rock, funk, afrobeat, Sufi and traditional Algerian music. Anis is back with a new album delving into Arabic-Andalusian sounds with elements of jazz, traditional music and pop. Grandiose!
