À propos de l’édition

Le premier choc du festival est l’affiche originale de Bruno Théry, qui va ensuite officier à cette tâche jusqu’en 2017. Les premières venues à Vienne de George Benson, Stéphane Grappelli, Carlos Santana et Dave Brubeck sont saluées par un très nombreux public enthousiaste. La disparition quelques jours avant le festival de Chet Baker empêche le retour de ce prodigieux artiste pour une soirée, qui finalement lui rendra un vibrant hommage. Michel Petrucciani entre dans la cour des grands accompagné par Gary Peacock et Roy Haynes. Dizzy Gillespie clôture ce festival avec son grand orchestre sur des rythmes afro-cubains.
