À propos de l’édition

1984 was, of course, the first visit of Miles Davis to Vienne in front of a record-breaking audience. But it was also the year of the trumpet players: from Miles to Don Cherry via Dizzy Gillespie, Freddie Hubbard and Nat Adderley. The musically colourful last night was devoted to women. This was when Dee Dee Bridgewater, who had recently arrived in France, took Vienne by storm in a wave of emotion and popular fervour. A gigantic New Orleans parade with the city’s native musicians (Kid Thomas and Louie Nelson) took the festival by storm on 13 July.
