Let us introduce you to a jazz maverick! Years of working alongside numerous musicians in the USA with a whole range of different styles doubtless gave Franco-Moroccan trumpeter Daoud his penchant, alongside his self-titled band, to cover his tracks, reject labels and to get on purists' nerves. His jazz is that of a man immersed in his era, that of a trumpeter and producer whose playlists include Miles Davis, but also hip-hop, R&B and electro. Similarly to Theo Croker and Christian Scott, he likes taking his jazz hors-piste. The result is a generous, joyful, dance-inducing jazz that is a blend of original compositions and instrumental covers. It's no wonder that this Toulousain was spotted in opening acts for Ibrahim Maalouf, Erik Truffaz and Lakecia Benjamin…
