MARSAVRIL

Two ways of dealing with chaos. Shrug it off and wait, or dance on the rubble. Released in the spring of 2023, the double EP, MARS followed by AVRIL, sounds tight, cohesive, and calculated, just like the band does live. Economy of means for wide-ranging emotion, a sound forged by a solid friendship. Formed in the spring of 2022, MARSAVRIL does what it pleases, combining complex structures with its desire to dance. This combo is very much in tune with BADBADNOTGOOD, keeps an eye on the paths explored by Makaya McCraven, and blends numerous influences and original compositions into a personal and unique mix. MARSAVRIL certainly carves out a form of simplicity, beauty, and melancholy; but also an imagination that is humble and stubborn, powerful and warm. Together, the four instrumentalists place their desires at the heart of music captured in the moment, drawn from the urgency and nostalgia of modern times.
